Moving into autumn

Another wet day. We moan when it’s too hot. We moan when it’s wet. So often we fail to get that nice middle ground. We’re rarely satisfied.

Rosemary in full bloom in spring

I thought it’s time for an update of our garden. The lavender is past its best as are the clematis. However, now the rosemary is bursting into bloom for a second time this year. They were among the first things to flower in the springtime. Berries are appearing everywhere. The rowans have ever reddening clusters, the St John’s wort shiny black ones. The dusky pink flowers of the echinacea are opening up with their spiny orange centres. The apple tree seems full of large reddening fruit, soon ready for the picking.

Echincea in bloom

The front garden has gone yellow with rudbeckia & chrysanths. There’s still the odd pink pompom of chives.

One side of the house looks so autumnal as leaves on trees start to change colour; on the other side of the house it remains summer. Both bring pleasure to us both.
