Vampire time

It’s dark once more this morning. Despite the clocks going back an hour at the weekend, it was too dark to see across the bedroom. It was almost as dark as it had been before the clocks changed. The clocks all said 7.45am but it looked more like 6.45am. Needless to say when I did get up I was greeted by a grey damp day. Back to normal in other words.

Today is indeed Halloween. Maybe it’s appropriate that today, I have an appointment for yet another blood-let. Next week will be chemo time once more. My vampire will arrive in daylight hours rather than after the hours of darkness & will definitely be taking blood.

Out early

It was a cold night last night. The world is white with frost, the first real frost of the season.

We were up early this morning. On Thursday evening, part of my tooth fell off, leaving a ragged edge, a huge cavity (or so it felt) & a nightmare of pain-filled brushing. Fortunately the dentist could see me this morning. I’m now the possessor of a new filling & a half numb mouth. I’ve been told not to eat for 3-4 hours & then only fairly soft food for the next day or two.

Well, I reckon that means a hot cup of tea is acceptable & the heat seems to regain some feeling in my mouth. I can wait to eat until nearer this evening – a grape to moisturise my mouth will be all I have until then.

I had planned to do Potato with Chorizo and Green Chillies for dinner. The only hard thing in that I can see is the chorizo & that will be diced finely anyway. I can’t see why I shouldn’t eat that. I suppose the fried potatoes may have some hardish edges. I’ll try to eat on the other side of my mouth anyway just to be on the safe side. The more questionable meal will be tomorrow’s, Lamb Teriyaki. The lamb in the stir fry could be a bit chewy. However, it will be cut into strips & my mouth will have had a day & a half to get back to normal.

I’m just grateful our NHS dentist managed to fit me in reasonably promptly. If I had been desperate they would have fitted me in Friday but it would have been with his wife, another dentist. You hear of such problems finding NHS dentists these days, so many have gone private only. I cannot fault this one. Long may he & his wife stay.

A brief celebrate

The clocks went back an hour last night. It was wonderful to get up this morning in daylight. It was all the brighter by the fact it is a very sunny morning with barely a cloud in sight. I suspect I won’t feel quite so upbeat when it’s dark by 5pm this evening, but still let’s celebrate the moment.
