We’re back to rain
& wind.
Yesterday the wind
was so strong it blew all the bird feeders off their stand. Most must have
landed with such force on the stone patio area that the plastic parts were
shattered.
We do question the point
of the feeder placed where it is. The smaller birds don’t visit. We think that
is because there is very little cover nearby. The only birds that do visit are
the doves, magpies, blackbirds & gulls if we’ve left a tasty extra on the tray.
Before we rebuy
containers I think we will have a think about positioning. It may be better to
put the bird feeder in the walled garden where there a lot of trees for a quick
escape route. It would also be an easy place for those nesting in the bird box
to get quick food for any youngsters.
The problem with
doing that is that you can’t really watch the birds feeding from inside the
house. You have to be standing by the sink to see out of the side window to see
anything. Even then the feeder would
have to be very carefully sited, near the tree/shrub hedging in a rather odd
position if you are sitting in that area.
As I say time for a little
think.
