It was a very pleasant, if tiring, afternoon. The two friends turned up. They enjoyed an explore of the garden. They’ve never seen it before. We sat in the sun and shared some prosecco & a pizza. The conversation flowed easily.
They left five-ish, noticing how tired I looked. She is a recently retired nurse & clearly is still very aware of how well, or otherwise, people are. She knows the signs of the time when people are flagging.
After they left, we relaxed over a mug of tea & a pre-recording of “Tipping Point” before dinner. We had decided on baked beans on toast, followed by strawberries & ice cream. Just enough after crisps & pizza earlier on. Today we will have something more substantial. We’re thinking of that fish pie I mentioned yesterday.
