Spring banks

The sun is shining. I have a quiet morning. The Fox is cooking Jambalaya today. As that requires rice I don’t even have to do as much as peel some spuds.

On our way to the hospital on Wednesday we passed Ryelands Park. I always love going along this road at this time of year. There are whole banks of snowdrops all in flower. They then start to meld into banks of crocuses. At the moment only the purple ones are opening out so far. Once they are over it will turn into banks of golden daffodils. The rest of the year it is just rather boring green grass.

I wish our snowdrops & crocuses were as advanced. Ours are still just in bud. More & more are appearing. As are the fresh green shoots of the daffodil leaves. But so far no flowers are opening. We seem to be in a frost pocket here. All the flowers seem to open later than everywhere else. Still they stay in flower longer too usually so there are compensations.
