An icy blast

It’s turned very cold & wet. Ice has been falling from the sky. Yesterday little drifts of ice appeared on the window sills outside. As for the wind, it is so icy it cuts right through you. Even during the day the thermometer in the car reckoned the outside temperature had only got to +3C, & that’s without the wind-chill factor.

We had been hoping to pop to Kendal. A couple of our lights are on their last legs – one glass shade got broken, one switch is dicky. There doesn’t seem to be any got lighting shops around here any longer. We used to buy them either from the lighting shop in Lancaster or British Home stores, both of which are now closed. However, in this weather we’re tempted to leave the hunt until it is a bit more clement.

Today is the last day that the Fox takes his medication for his rash. Since the quantity has been reduced he has been more himself, sleeping better & been less volatile. Although most of the sores have dried up, the marks remain in several places. Some sores remain sores & itchy, especially where clothes, such as socks, rub them. We remain anxious that the ending of the medication will also means these sores will worsen & his rash will re-erupt all over him once more. We’ll soon find out. At least he’s had some relief from most of his itching so hopefully he can keep going until his hospital appointment at Dermatology at the end of the month.
