Another visit over

Another trip to the hospital done. Radiotherapy is going to go ahead. The next stage is an appointment down in Preston, probably next week. At this I will be permanently tattooed. (I’ve always hated tattoos, but hopefully this will be just a couple of small dots to join the various scars from the biopsies & the operation.) This gives them an exact place to use when aiming the radiation beams. The actual treatment won’t start until the new year, That’s a relief. At least I won’t have to contend with any ill-effects over the Christmas festivities. Once it does start it will be take place Monday to Friday for 3 weeks.

In the meantime I’m to start moisturising the left breast twice a day as the treatment tends to dry out the skin so the moister it is to start with the better. We’re thinking of going off to the shops later today for some E45, the recommended moisturiser, & some unscented or baby soap which I will need to wash the area once treatment has begun.

Hopefully all this means by the spring all the treatment will be over, except the remaining doses of the bone-strengthening chemo, & life will get back to normal. I’m looking forward to that day. All this hospitalling is very disruptive & unsettling.
