The sun is shining,
a good start to the Easter weekend. During the night the Fox has slow cooked a
ham hock in cola, ready to be warmed up for this evening. After this I may even
get out into the garden once more. Little by little I’m getting it tidied after
the winter months. In the process it’s a pleasure to see what is in flower or
bud, all those signs of spring on its way. Then, after Saturday the evenings
will turn lighter as the clocks are put forward an hour. Once that is done the
evenings seem to lengthen almost day by day.
I gather things are
picking up a pace with our French holiday. The tour operator has already got
around to sending the form they require filling concerning my disability. I
remember last year filling in such a form with questions concerning dimensions
of wheelchair, how far can I walk etc.
Meanwhile our
thoughts are turning to our Dutch holiday. The tickets should arrive next week.
If our garden is anything to go by, the bulb display at the Keukenhof Gardens
should be in full bloom & magnificent. We just have to hope for dry weather
for the visit. We’re also going on another canal cruise around Amsterdam. It
should look different from when we went in December. The trees should be in
leaf, some in blossom. It’s a lovely way to see the city.

We’re also looking
forward to re-seeing The Hague & wondering whereabouts we will be dropped
& picked up. It’s a large city so what we will see will depend on where the
drop off point is. We are quite tempted to visit the Mauritshuis gallery again.

For novelty we will be visiting
Alkmaar, a place we've never visited, & watching the cheese porters laying out the hundreds of Gouda
& Edam cheeses in the market square for sale. It should be good.
