La Serenissima

I’ve just been busily making a chicken & leek mash topped pie. It’s chemo day today. Such a pie should be just the thing for this evening. It’s now already to go into the oven to be heated up & the mash topping to turn golden & a little crispy. Even if I’m not feeling up to much the Fox can easily take over & do that. There’ll also be a few glazed carrots to accompany the pie.

Back to Italy. The other main influence in Veneto is Venice itself. By the 15^th century Veneto was part of the Venetian Empire. Even today you see the symbol of La Serenissima (The Most Serene Republic of Venice). Here a just a few examples.
