Sant'Anastsia

How’s that for a ceiling? It’s just one of the riches of Sant’Anastasia church in Verona. The church was begun in 1290 under the patronage of the Scaligeri. It’s rich in frescoes. The marble floor of three main colours though in differing geometric shapes, is the original. Just goes to show how well stone will last when you consider the millions of feet that must have trod over it through the centuries. Every corner of the church seemed to have its interest. We spent well over an hour just looking around.

Rather than try to describe the church I think my best bet is just to add some more pictures. Some are a bit blurred – the light levels were rather low - but they do capture some of the idea of what the place was like. It’s certainly a church worth visiting.
