Apple blossom

The apple blossom is really opening up now. It’s so pretty. The pink outer side is a very deep colour, much deeper than it ever was on the old apple tree we used to have. I presume that is due to the change of variety.

Needless to say yesterday was very windy. I half expected to see all the blossoms go. Certainly when we drove over to Carnforth in the afternoon there were white petals from the nearby trees, or were they flakes of snow, being blown along the road.

I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that these flowers will stay on long enough to set the fruit. I’m also hoping they’re not going to be affected by the severe dip in temperature we’re experiencing due to these icy blasts. Here's hoping!
