Too wet

While I was writing my last blog, it became very dark. I half-thought about putting the light on to see. Torrential rain slammed against the window. I hastily went out to raise my bag of ironing, usually just left on the laundry room floor, on to the freezer in case we flooded. The rain soon eased.

That afternoon we visited our local Post Office. The Fox had difficulty getting in, not because of the queues of people trying to get Christmas stamps & parcels off, but because the door didn’t work properly. The shop, just around the corner from us, had flooded. Water had got into the electrics with the result the automatic door wasn’t opening & closing properly. Inside they were still mopping up from the morning downpour. They must have got the full onslaught of the cloud burst of the morning. When we got home I hastily checked our laundry room – no flood thank goodness.

Yesterday was another wet day. We went along to the golf club in the afternoon. On the course no trolleys were allowed because the course was so wet & boggy. By the evening we progressed to thunder & lightning. It’s quite a relief to find this morning is a quiet day with bright blue skies - altogether more pleasant.
