Should have gone to Specsavers

I was told of one of the latest episodes of nuttiness of our MP & the reaction. He is a man held in little regard by our friends. He always takes credit for anything good, even though the grunt work was done by the previous incumbent of his position, someone from a different political persuasion. He lost our support when we received a letter from him in which he couldn’t even manage to write a coherent sentence, let alone use any punctuation.

Our MP made a statement somewhere that there were no poor people living in Morecambe, no people who were homeless, no people going without food because they couldn’t afford to buy some. Apparently one wit sent him an email back quoting his statement & ending with “should have gone to Specsavers”. For those who do not live in this country this is the slogan of an optician company about people doing silly things such as shearing the dog rather than a sheep because they couldn’t see properly. Our MP is now complaining of cyber bullying as a result.

I have to confess I couldn’t help thinking maybe I should send him a list of people I personally know who are struggling to keep both a roof over their heads & full stomachs. I would also include a list of addresses of food banks which are in great demand at the moment, of organisations such as the Salvation Army that provide free shelter, showers, meals, clothes etc. for the homeless. These organisations wouldn’t have to exist if there was no hunger, homelessness & struggle. Our MP, a Tory, just doesn’t want to see.
