Clemmie has arrived. We went over to Lindale to collect her. By
the time we got back we went along to Ricky’s for a Chinese meal (& to let
Susan, the waitress & wife of Ricky, know the good news of my mammogram.
They had been very supportive when I first had the news of the cancer.) Dinner,
as usual, was wonderful.
When we were back home, & the Fox took some things out of
Clemmie, he couldn’t help noticing just how mucky Clemmie already was. It had
rained, in a drizzly sort of way, all the way home. As many of the roads we
went along are used by tractors with all the field mud on their tyres,
inevitably the mud comes off the tyres onto the road & then got sprayed by
passing cars everywhere.
Clemmie certainly seems responsive. We had convinced ourselves
that “sunset orange”, her colour, was a lurid shade of orange. But no she is
the more coppery colour we remembered. We have yet to come to terms with many
of her features, locate which button does what etc. So far only the Fox has
driven – it has to be said he does 90 per cent of the driving normally – but he
is pleased by the way she handles. She certainly gives a comfortable ride.
When we got home we opened a bottle of Chablis to celebrate her
arrival in her new home.
