Nearly there

Wow, we’ve already heard when the Fox’s hospital appointment is to be – end of Jan. I just hope he copes with the itches & pain until then. Meanwhile we’re on a regime of twice daily covering with cream. Needless to say I have to be in charge of doing his back. The latest lot of creams seem to be a bit more effective. His back seems a lot better, but new spots continue to arrive on the scene. The doctor at the surgery did suggest that the Fox should ring the hospital & try to get an earlier appointment e.g. to take a cancelled appointment. I’m half-expecting by the end of January the rash will have disappeared & there will be nothing to examine or take biopsies of.

I’m relieved to say we’ve done the big Christmas shop. It never ceases to amaze me how much more people seem to buy. The shops are only closed for one day yet their trolleys are piled high, sometimes even pushing around two large trolleys. You would think they’re expecting a siege of several months.

Of course, when we came to make dinner we quickly discovered what we’d forgotten to put on our list. I used just about the last beef stock cube for the gravy to pour over our pasties. Then the Fox discovered we were nearly out of butter for the creamed potatoes he made to accompany them. I can see at this rate we will be having another shop later this week.

The last bits of preparation should be done today – collect our medical supplies for the holidays, get some sausages or sausage meat from the butcher’s, get some extra reading from the library, deliver a last local card,  pay a last bill. Then we can try to relax & get into more festive spirit
