A white world

It’s another bright sunny day. The light is so fresh & sharp.

It’s also a white world. We did have a bit of snow on Saturday. The paths in the garden were turned white. It quickly disappeared as the snow turned to rain.

No, our garden is white with frost. This morning the shed thermometer said -14C. A bit chilly to say the least. The world looks beautiful under this coating of white. However the birds seem to be going around frantically looking for something to eat to keep them warm. I’ve put some extra food out for them.

At the moment I’m in the midst of making a lamb hotpot – just the thing to warm up two hungry foxes later on. The lamb & veg are plopping at the moment. When we get in from popping out to do some chores this afternoon, I will just have to put the sliced potato topping on & pop it into the oven.

From the news reports we’ve been very lucky. So much of the country seems to be under snow. With being so low-lying & on the coast with its salty air, we rarely get snow here. I have a suspicion, though, that this year we may well get some more before the winter is over.
