A dark cloud

It’s been raining a lot. Yesterday it looked like it was night even though it wasn’t very late. I looked out of the window. A very dark, almost black, cloud dominated the sky. Below, in the distance there was a bright spot. Soon that cloud emptied itself onto us – heavy rain with some hail mixed in. It quite took away the cheer we had been feeling as we put up & decorated the Christmas tree.

Today I discovered the other consequence of that cloud. There was so much water in our back door, the lower part of the barn door, that the locking mechanism wouldn’t turn. I spent ages trying to open it, tearing a little at my shoulder which is so sensitive with the cancer. It was a relief when the Fox got up & managed to get it open. The door is remaining a single door at least until this evening. It’s exhausting having to go round by the front door & the garden gate to get to the bins & freezer.
