Now our holiday to the Netherlands in the spring is safely
organised. There only remains to decide how we are going to get to the services
near Leeds where we are to be picked up by the coach – by taxi or self-drive
with an expensive car park. So now I can turn my attention to our autumn
holiday.
We’re thinking France. We have to get our French fix. For us
France is a second home. We miss it if we don’t get there for a while.
We’re thinking of heading south, rather than Britanny as we had
been thinking earlier in the year. Admittedly last year it was warm, even here
in the north of England, well into autumn. However, we have had holidays in
France, in the northern parts, & felt decidedly chilly & often encountered
the rain. And this holiday will be our last fix of sun & warmth to get us
through the winter ahead. Each year these days, winter seems longer, more ache-filled
& more depressing.
We’re once more deciding between the options of hotel &
self-catering. The idea of a gîte is winning at the moment, if we can only find
the right one. I’ve found a website that specialises in properties suitable for
disabled people so hopefully we’ll find something.
Meanwhile it’s hospital today. There’s a very small patch on my
tongue to show, so small I’m not sure I would even notice it if I hadn’t been
told there was a problem. Hopefully I will be told it’s nothing to worry about.
We’re thinking of doing a bit of shopping afterwards – our new butcher doesn’t
sell legs of pork! - & possibly
having a meal out while we’re on the far side of Lancaster. The idea of trying
to cross Lancaster in rush hour, especially on a Friday evening, is a nightmare,
definitely one to be avoided. Maybe the change will also lift our spirits a
bit.
