First signs of spring

We’ve had a few days of relatively little rain. Instead we’ve had blue skies & bitterly cold nights. As a result the snowdrops have opened up. There’s even a group of golden crocuses in the front garden that have opened up. More pulmonaria are flowering. Spring must be on its way.

The blue tits seem convinced on this. Now they are making daily trips to the nest box, getting it ready for new life soon.

Even I am beginning to feel the urge to tidy up the garden, ready for the summer.

However, I’m not entirely convinced the winter is behind us. I often conclude February & March are the worst months of winter. I’m sure there are few kicks in the tail before winter finally decides to depart.

Meanwhile it was good to be able to go out into the garden this morning & find fresh mint to put into the lamb burgers we’re having for dinner tonight. The herbs are definitely re-appearing after their wintry doze.

Spring is on its way.
