We’d decided where
to go for our autumn holiday & were off to book it yesterday afternoon.
Then the phone rang.
It was from a
different travel agent than our usual one, the one we’d visited while waiting
for my watch battery to be fitted, more than two weeks ago. It had finally found a selection of possible
hotels in the south of France for us. So instead of booking our holiday, we went
& collected the info about some more hotels. Now we are wading our way
through them, deciding if any appeal more than the one we had settled upon on
Lake Annecy.
Maybe we will get
around to booking somewhere next week instead.
It’s good to book so
far in advance, partly because it can take a surprising amount of time ensuring
the accommodation is indeed wheelchair accessible, partly because so often
there is only one accessible room in the hotel & that can go fast, partly
because it does our moral good to have something so positive to look forward
to. To some extent it is an act of faith that our health will be up to the trip
when the time comes but knowing it’s all organised gives us something to aim
at.
