Change of thought

After a long discussion we’ve finally decided to abandon the idea of going abroad for a holiday. We really do not want to take pot luck on where we go. For us part of the pleasure of a holiday is in the dreaming, the eager anticipation of going to somewhere that excites us. This late in the year, wherever we think of seems to be fully booked up. We’d sooner take our time with no time pressures & maybe get away next year. We may even go on a winter holiday for a change. The weather may not be as good but you can always wrap up & take some waterproof wear. We’ll just keep our eyes open & see what turns up.

Meanwhile we’re thinking we may have a few days away somewhere in this country. Our immediate thought is a weekend in the Lakes. We have a favourite hotel there, but its one ground floor, disabled room is booked through to September. Our next thought is a weekend in Harrogate to see old friends & attend a car show there.

Our present car is a Motability one. This means we will have to change it later this year. So now we’re turning our attention to deciding what car to choose this time.

Last week we did get to the local Honda garage. The Jazz we found very comfortable but the boot was rather small for the wheelchair. The Civic is bigger. The boot space is fine, but the seating isn’t as comfortable. The next car up was so high off the ground I couldn’t even manage the transfer from my wheelchair into the body of the car. We’ve come to the conclusion we will have to look on.
