Another quiet morning

It’s another quiet morning. This time it’s because I’m intending to make a salad for dinner tonight. I’ve not quite decided whether it will be a chicken one or a tinned tuna one. Either way the only thing that needs to be done before meal time is to buy some fresh bread to accompany it & that we will do this afternoon.

Meanwhile I’ve put my washing out on the line. It’s blowing well. The sheet has even dried already! The sun is trying to come out. At the moment it’s one of those days when I feel too warm with a jumper on but too cold without, especially if I go out into the wind.

We spent another lovely evening last night, just chuntering with some Cole Porter gently playing in the background. We were reminded of the days when we were first married. We lived in the countryside then, far from anywhere to go for entertainment. We had no TV, just a radio for external entertainment. We spent long evenings just reading or talking, well into the early hours of the morning. Now, over 40 years on, we still enjoy a good chunter. It seems a more positive thing to do than just watch TV. It forces you to think, to share emotionally, in a way TV, no matter how good it is doesn’t. It helps us to continue to run along the same track of life, to aim for the same things, to understand one another better.

And to think the night before we got married, I panicked, thinking we would run out of things to talk about!
