We’re on the hunt
for some new double glazing. What we have at present is old, brittle & a
style we don’t like. Above all, it’s not very efficient. During the winter
gales we couldn’t help noticing how much cold draught was blowing through the
windows. We’ve concluded this is the year to solve that problem.
So yesterday we set
off to our first showroom, down near Blackpool as it turned out. We returned
laden with a bottle of wine & a box of chocs as a thankyou for coming. It
also gave us an excuse to have another meal at Thurnham Mill.
This time we both
had the same thing. We both enjoyed the duck pâté with a homemade rather nice
chutney, followed by turkey & bacon pie. The veg may have been plain boiled
but they were at least served with a good dollop of butter to give them some
extra flavour. This time we decided to be abstemious when it came to pudding.
Last time we indulged & ended up feeling bloated all evening. As we were
aware this time we were feeling fairly full already we stopped after the pies.
Today we hoping to
get to another showroom, this time nearer home. The dinner I prepared yesterday
needs to be eaten up before it goes off.
So far we’ve been
very struck by how much uPVC seems to have improved in quality over the years.
We were very impressed by some we saw in Molveno, Italy, when we were
holidaying there & are hoping to find something akin in quality.
