It’s raining once
more. It’s been trying most of the week but rarely has more than a few drops
arrived. The front garden, which is a raised bed filled with good topsoil
rather than the natural heavy clay that abounds elsewhere in the garden, is
looking so dry. A few drops have arrived but the mighty winds that have been
blowing dries the water quicker than the soil can absorb it. Hopefully today it
will do better. At least the soil is getting to look a darker richer colour.
The azaleas should appreciate it.
Meanwhile we keep
dreaming of Norway. At the moment we’re both feeling so tired of feeling tired
all the time.
We’ve been looking
at all the proposed trips but they are so expensive. We’re telling ourselves
this is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity to explore these Polar Regions.
We might, just might, return to the further south parts of Norway, to Bergen
perhaps, but we are unlikely to venture into the Arctic Circle again so we
ought to make the most of what opportunities that are open to us. I have been
reassured by one video of one of the trips that shows the coach used to take
you to the venue. I spotted the blue & white wheelchair symbol on the front
so presumably at least some of the time they are using wheelchair accessible
coaches/buses which even I could get on. How is not apparent but it does make
trips seem more feasible.
Our real problem is
trying to assess our energy levels. Some of the trips sound wonderful. One trip
that has caught my eye is a concert of Norwegian folk music & hymns
performed at the Arctic Cathedral at Tromsø. The modern church, shaped like a
Sami tent with apparently fantastic stained glass & acoustics, is on my
list of things I’d like to see. However, it is out of town a bit so I’m not
sure how we would get there without going on one of these excursions. The real
problem is that the concert starts at midnight & I’m usually in the Land of
Nod long before that. Will I even be able to keep my eyes & ears open long
enough to appreciate the 45 minute concert?
We’ll keep on
thinking before we rush into any expensive commitments.
