Yesterday was a quiet day. After some Christmases we’ve had that is
no bad thing. We did all the usual things. I watched “Wallace & Gromitt” in the
morning. In the afternoon we watched “Jungle Book”. I’m not sure if I didn’t
prefer the old cartoon version but at least they kept some of the best songs in
such as “Bare/Bear Necessities”. The animations of the animals were good.
Throughout the day we overindulged. Firstly, in my case, in
chocolates – the Fox is not a great lover of chocolates but he makes sure I’m
well supplied for the season. We enjoyed our pâté. Then later we enjoyed our
turkey washed down with a beautiful bottle of Chablis. We even had some soft French
cheese to complete the meal. Come the evening we opened a bottle of champagne
& remembered a time (& the friend involved) when we drank numerous bottles of
champers. These days it’s a rare treat.
We never ventured out of the house except to get things from the
freezer. Today we will be going out. Boxing Day in recent years has been spent
at the golf club. However, this year they’ve decided to stay shut. They reckon
they haven’t taken enough in recent years to even cover the cost of wages. We
don’t like going to the pub on Boxing Day as it is usually heaving as everyone
wants to get away from their homes & ease tension within families.
Fortunately some friends have invited us around for part of the day so we will
have some break from the house. The weather certainly isn’t conducive to a
Christmas stroll. It’s just damp & grey. That’s about usual.

Our first champagne of the season only popped out on New Years Day morning - it went down nicely with some succulent smoked trout, accompanied by the New Years Day concert from Vienna.
We opened another bottle of champagne to see the New Year in. I'm not quite sure whether it is the first of 2019 or the last of 2018. thinking of you both, the Vixen
