It’s turned to rain,
to complete the damage caused by the wind.
Our gardener came
yesterday. There’s no denying the garden does look better for all her hard
work.
I told her of our
next potential cruise. She burst out in laughter. After all our moans she
couldn’t quite believe it. Nor could we, I assured her. But if it means our
disabled friend & his wife get a holiday, we’ll at least consider it.
When her husband
came with the car to take her home, I told him too. His reaction was “Aren’t
you so lucky to have so many friends who want you to go on holiday with them!” I couldn’t help thinking we certainly would be
if they were all volunteering to pay for us to go. Needless to say they’re not.
I did look on-line
at the cruise company this set of friends favour. I was impressed by their
accessibility section. It looks as though they’ve thought through some of the needs
of disabled people. They even try to hire accessible transport for trips in the
various ports they visit. Whether this is a reality is another question. I
carefully looked at all the pictures, at the ramps to go outside on deck –
considerably easier gradients than on Fred Olsen’s ship where they were a
nightmare. This new company just may be a solution. Anyhow I’ve sent off for a
brochure so we can see if any of the itineraries appeal. If we are going, we
will all need to get around a brochure to decide which one is for us.
I keep coming back
to the fact that next year is a long way off. Anything could happen between now
& then. Admittedly with disabled holidays you do tend to have to book early
if you want wheelchair accessible accommodation. And we would need two
wheelchair accessible cabins!
But first there is
Italy. And we’re looking forward to it. And being on dry land.
