Waiting

It’s a cooler start to the day. The sky is more white than blue. Unfortunately it doesn’t exactly look like it’s going to rain. The garden could desperately do with some. Leaves are turning yellow in readiness to be shed.

The Fox has slow cooked some beef ready for tonight. I’m just hoping he’ll manage to eat a bit more than the slow cooked meal, the venison, than he made last week.  The last couple of days we’ve returned to a diet of eggs & salad. He’s managed better. We’re thinking of trying egg noodles for a change – not too heavy.

Meanwhile I wait nervously. Today is home help day. My usual girl is on holiday. Her regular replacement often doesn’t get here until nearer midday despite the appointment being 10am. I’m anticipating a long wait. The problem is that her previous client is on the far side of Lancaster. She doesn’t drive so she has a couple of buses to get which takes over an hour for her to get here. She’s allowed ten minutes! The admin of this company has no realistic idea of the bus services & is not prepared to pay for taxis all the time.
