What of waste!

The first job of the morning was to ring the council to complain.

Wednesday is bin day for us. The bins had not been emptied.

I duly went through a series of questions once they’d located the rota for this area.

Yes I know it was green bin week. We’d put out green bins.

Yes we’d put them out early enough. We done that on Tuesday evening just in case they were to come early. The bins are too difficult for me to move so the Fox always does it the night before.

Yes they were put in the usual place.

Yes we had put them so that the stickers proving we had paid the extra charge for the emptying of the two bins were facing the street.

Oh dear. She apologised & said they would be round in 3 working days i.e. by Tuesday next week. Just leave the bins in the street until they are collected.

What is our gardener supposed to do when she comes tomorrow? I ask. There’s only a half bin available. One of the two bins is full to the top. At this time of year she fills nearly a bin a week as she tidies away the dead leaves, prunes back some plants as well as does some weeding – they’re still thriving despite it being November. Indeed the spring celandines are already starting to appear it’s been so mild most of the winter so far.

She’ll just have to manage I was told. Goodbye.

I think we will have to find a large black refuse bag, fill that & empty the rubbish in the bin after it’s been emptied.

And to think we pay an extra £30 a bin for such service! It used to be done free as part of refuse collection.
