Work continues

The chaos continues. The noise goes on. The restlessness & sense of ill-ease persists.

On the good side there is definite progress. The fencing is on the way up. One soakaway is being filled with the rubble from the old concrete gravel boards & posts.

Yesterday we popped out for a while. We couldn’t help feeling sorry for the workers & stopped on the way back to buy a selection of ice-creams & lollies. They were overjoyed to get something so cold.

Linda, our home help, came round to take away some plants. She’s thrilled to get a fairly large dogwood to replace a tree that’s had to be taken out of her garden. She also fancied a fuschia.

Today is wet & windy. So far it has only be showery so they’re continuing with the work. However, I suspect if it really sets in they may abandon the effort. It’s difficult to imagine making concrete for the footings when it is so wet.

Each evening, after they’ve gone, we go out & take some photos of the progress. The changes are coming quick now. Linda was astounded by how much progress had been made since Tuesday, her cleaning day. She’s full of excitement, almost more so than us.
