On it goes

The work goes on. A wall’s come down. A digger is ensconced in our garden. One skip load of tree roots has already been taken out. Another skip will be arriving soon.

They’re finally starting on putting in some new posts & gravel boards for the fencing. That by itself is a massive job.

We’ve done something to reduce the costs. A pergola has gone, along with the water feature & sculpture. The back courtyard garden is just going to be a flagged area, apart from the planting of a row of trees to screen off our windows from our neighbours. With time we’re thinking we will add a range of pots filled with colourful plants, but that can be done later.

I confess I’m having difficulty with the stress involved. To be fair the men are just getting on with the work, disturbing us as little as possible – they’ve even brought their own tea, kettle, mugs & biscuits – but it the awareness of all the activity that is unsettling me. I can’t relax through the daytime, & by the time they depart I’m shattered. And there’s going to be at least another 3 weeks of this.

One things for certain. We will certainly need that holiday at the end of it all.
