Light & Dark

At last the sun is shining. There is light. The single thread of spider’s web that stretches across the kitchen window is now a rainbow as the sun strikes it.

Yesterday I got a call from a friend. She is very anxious. The father of the lad she often looks after has been diagnosed with Covid. Admittedly, early in the new year, they had decided that, for the time being, they would ignore their bubble & for my friends no longer to see the boy & his parents. However, was the father already infectious by that time?

Apparently someone at his work had gone to work even though he knew he had the virus. He’d told his manager but was still allowed to work, with the result that our friend’s friend is now ill.

And what about our friends, both over 70, & others? It amazes me so many people are taking this virus so casually. That man should never have thought of working or his manager have let him. It was asking for trouble. I know it is an essential industry but now possibly half the staff is ill rather than just the one person.

We meanwhile continue with our regime of only going out to only buy food or visit hospital. Yesterday was a brief exception in that the Fox also stopped to pick up a mystery bag of 6 books at the library – they’re not allowing people in to actually choose books at the moment. As it is, we’re beginning to wonder whether we shouldn’t buy our food on-line to avoid so much contact with people.
