Under siege

The weather forecast is for hot. Indeed the predicted temperature is for 33°C, a very un-English sort of temperature.

Today’s dinner was going to be Beef Popovers with roast potatoes & green beans. It’s suddenly changed to a tuna salad. We’ll get some fresh salad ingredients when we go to the shops. So far I’ve boiled some eggs ready.

This time, unlike yesterday, it does look like the weather forecasters have got it right. The warmth & sun did arrive yesterday afternoon. We sat out to dine, desperate to get away from our sweltering kitchen in which I’d made some Spicy Baked Eggs, sautéed potatoes & broccoli. By the time the cooking was done the Fox was just about passing out in the heat.

I feel a vague siege mentality is setting in. There’s only a day or two to survive the heat, then it should return back to rain & more normal temperatures. Personally, so far I’m coping well, even quite enjoying it, but the Fox is definitely suffering. It’s not helped by having a running nose & prickly eyes as hay fever is setting in. Hopefully he will feel more like himself at the end of the week.
