The hunt

The sun is shining. It seems like the first time all week. We’ve certainly not had to worry about watering the new garden.

We did venture around it yesterday to notice the weeds are already beginning to appear in our low maintenance garden. On the good side the pinks are beginning to open up & new flowers are beginning to open out on the roses. Already things are changing.

We went looking for a new car again yesterday. The Fox has been busily looking at car reviews trying to decide which are the most likely ones to suit our needs. On this basis, we went to the Skoda garage last week, the VW one this week. Our conclusion is that one person’s idea of comfort is not another’s. Neither of us feel we’ve found the right car for us.

Fortunately for us, there are several garages on the nearby industrial estate, all with different marques. I can see it’s going to be a long hunt, even for a brand new car.

And there still remains a niggling doubt that we’d sooner buy a good second hand car which we can hold on to for years, rather than lease a Motability car for 3 years, at the end of which we will have to go through the whole business of choosing another car again, even though we’re satisfied with the one we’ve got. The only problem is that there are so few automatic cars on the second hand market locally, & the one certainty is that it is essential for us to have an automatic.

The hunt continues. It’s just as well it hasn’t got to the stage when a different car is urgent. Our present one can creak on for a while yet.
