A splash of colour

Each time I look out at the front garden, my heart has a little jump of joy.

Why you might ask.

The answer is simple. Right now the herb garden is burgeoning with crocuses – simple white, magisterial purple and golden yellow. In other parts there are snowdrops, so delicate-looking.

I know neither really have a part in a herb garden, but I put in the former as a nod to saffron, even though I couldn’t find saffron crocuses, & the latter I know is a medicinal plant, not that I have any intention of using it as such.

Above all they are there as a splash of colour to celebrate the coming of the new season, of hopefully better weather (& we certainly need that this year).
