Going to the
hospital yesterday was incredibly quick. As you may remember getting across the River Lune to get to Lancaster & the hospital is awkward at the moment. The
3-lane Greyhound Bridge is closed so there is only the 2-lane Skerton Bridge open
& that has had to become two way.
With the weather
being as bad as it has been, few cars were on the road. This seems particular
odd to me as here, certainly yesterday, there was no snow just a bitterly
strong icy east wind. Nonetheless there was hardly a car on the road. We drove
to the hospital in less than 15 minutes. The only place that seemed busy – we passed
several almost empty car parks as we cut across the city centre – was at the hospital
where the parking was as bad as ever. I suppose, though, that shouldn’t have
surprised us. If there’s one place you still try to get to even in bad weather,
it’s the hospital.
The junior doctor
agreed the diagnosis. She also concluded the ointments the Fox is at present using
are not strong enough to do the job. She prescribed a stronger lot to try. She
agrees a holiday is probably the best thing for us. She even sounded more
hopeful that a good rest & relaxation may see the back of the rash for a
long time. We just hope so. They will see him again in another 3 months.
We were done &
leaving the hospital before our appointment was even due. Coming home too
proved easy, another 15 minute journey. We hastily went to the surgery to drop
in the doctor’s request to be made into a prescription we get filled at the
chemist. That won’t be available until next week some time.
Meanwhile I’ve just
spoken to my cousin Trudy’s husband. The funeral is due on the day we return
from France. The time isn’t certain yet but it seems probable that we won’t be
able to attend.
