The wait is over. The new car arrived on Saturday. So far I’ve
not had chance to drive her myself. We thought it was more important for the
Fox to get familiar with her first as he does the majority of the driving. We’re
longing for a nice day to have a day out on & test her out. All we’ve been
getting is the tail end of the hurricane that hit Bermuda last week – forceful winds,
bright blue skies disappearing under curtains of rain, the occasional bit of
hail to complete things. We’ve also had to have an emergency trip to the
dentist as the Fox lost a filling & had to get it replaced.
As we’ve watched the trees dancing & heard the winds howl,
we’ve been telling ourselves thank goodness the garden’s been done. The fences
are all strong. The big, rather unstable trees are gone. We’ve worried about
some of the younger, rather frail looking ones we’ve planted but all seem to be
surviving. I suspect once this storm has blown itself out all the trees that
shed their leaves for winter will have shed them. At the moment there’s still
some fabulous bright scarlet leaves on the acer but I wonder for how much
longer.
Our minds are now turning to our short trip to the Amsterdam in
December. We’ve still a few things to organise e.g. the travel insurance. We’re
really looking forward to visiting the Rijksmuseum & seeing some more
Rembrandt. We’re still haunted by his “Flight into Egypt” that we saw in Tours.
I confess to feeling a little anxious as to whether I will cope
with so much travelling for so few days staying. We’ll just have to see.
Hopefully though we will return full of Christmas spirit ready to prepare the
main event at the end of the December.
