Welcome rain

The plants are in the ground now. It has been raining on & off ever since. It’s a relief to see everywhere so well-watered.

Although I don’t feel it has on the whole been a good summer, even a rather damp one, the wind that has blown has dried the soil well. I suspect that’s why the pots & front garden have not done well this year.

The plants in the back garden are well established now, with roots that go deep into the almost permanently moist clay below any surface dryness. When the garden was redesigned, the back garden became one huge soakaway, intended to stop the previous lakes appearing every year. Hopefully now, with this soaking, plants in pots & the front garden will finally take off.
