Getting there

We’re slowly getting ourselves sorted.

Only two polo shirts remain outside, drying in the autumnal sunshine. The rest is dried, ready for ironing, probably tomorrow.

Monday saw us at the library seeking the essential books & jigsaws that keep us going.

Yesterday got the food shopping done. So today I’ve been making some lamb burgers. We’re going to have our first chips in nearly a month – they didn’t seem to appear anywhere in Austria where we dined. It’s good to get back to our own cooking, eating what we want when we want.

After the shop we went along to the golf club & seeing our cruising friends again. We had lunch at our village pub on Monday so we know nothing dire has happened there in our absence, though we were too early for our friends there who tend to arrive nearer teatime.

While we were in the supermarket we bumped into Carol, our gardener, & paid her for her work done during our holiday. She intends to come round later in the week. They’ve still not entirely completed the new kitchen at her mother-in-law’s house where they all live at present.

We’ve had an explore of our garden. We’ve discovered the passionflowers have opened up & look so intricately beautiful. There’s a mass of buds yet to open out. On the whole the garden seems to be showing the signs of autumn advancing. The rowans are bending down with bright orange berries. Leaves on different plants are turning rich oranges & reds.

Linda, our home help, has been so we’ve caught up with her news.

All in all we’re slowly getting there. There’s still a little non-urgent post to look through. We may even start eating at more normal times & generally get back to the rhythm of our normal life.
