Mystery solved

We solved the appearance of half a fish on our lawn.

Our gardener came round. She was surprised to see a heron perched on top of the chimney of a nearby house. She was saying how a heron was forever raiding her mother’s pond, taking the fish she’d put in there.

Suddenly a bell went off in my head.

The fish I’d found was surprisingly white, the scales large. It didn’t quite fit with a salmon, but a koi carp, now that would be a different matter. Almost certainly that heron had found a garden pond & done some fishing. For some unknown reason, while flying over us, it had dropped the tail end of the fish. It had landed on our lawn where I found it. Clearly the heron was still keeping an eye on the pond to see if the owner would restock it with fish & not put netting over it to stop the heron fishing. The heron seems to have moved off now, presumably to a fish-richer area.

Must be a rewarding feeling - how often do any of us get to resolve a real-life mystery! On another note my beloved OH came home yesterday, hopefully permanent, having been taken off section about ten days ago, a very special Christmas treat following a week in which I'd been hospitalised (only 24 hrs this time) for the third time this year .... Nothing compared to what you have to undergo but, I could always thing of better things to do with my time. Much love to you and the Fox from us two young lovers. Thoughts, prayers, positive vibes and warm gentle cyberhugs headed your way.
