Irises

The front garden is now bursting into new life. Suddenly the irises are bursting into life. They are the Spanish variety rather than the bearded ones.

We planted these last autumn so this is their first season in flower. It’s been exciting seeing the first hints of colour. The first to open was a deep purply blue with bright yellow parts. Nearer the wall was a bud of white.

The yesterday, a couple of days later the white one opened along with a yellow one near the first iris.

This morning another white one as opened next to the white by the wall, along with two more elsewhere. Buds are appearing, some white, some yellow, some purply blue.

I’m trying to guess which is next. I’m bemused by the fact they always seem to spring open at night/very early morning before I’m up. I’ve not caught them at that half open stage yet. It’s a surprise each morning to open the blinds & discover what’s new.
