Yesterday we spent a while
trying to make up an on-line shopping order to save the Fox having to venture
down to the shops. Having made the list, we discovered the earliest delivery
date wasn’t until well into May. He tried “Click and Collect” but even that
wasn’t available until the end of the month. We gave up in disgust. We will be
desperate for milk for our teas long before that!
One of our neighbours who
is heavily into charity work, gave us the phone number of the Community Officer
at our local Morrisons supermarket. Apparently they are keeping a delivery van especially
for deliveries to those who are “extremely vulnerable” (like me) or over 70 (as
the Fox will be later this month). I gave her a ring.
She was pleased to hear
from me. Apparently later today they will deliver a list of what they consider
to be “essential” deliveries & the contact number to order them. Deliveries
should come soon.
I thought I might as well
pass on the names & addresses of friends who are in a similar situation to
us. We are all beginning to feel nervous about venturing to shops where there
are likely to be others who may disregard personal space recommendations. It’s
all very well our home being a virus-free space but the Fox could easily bring
in the virus when he comes home from the shopping.
However, I do wonder if
their idea of “essential items” are going to be the same as ours. At least if
they can deliver milk & bread that would reduce the number of times the Fox
would have to venture to the shops considerably. Here’s hoping.
