Happy diners

Meet one of our visiting woodpigeons.

 

This particular bird thinks he’s a swan. He sits on the ring for the bird bath like this, then suddenly stretches up his neck a surprising distance to reach the feeder just beyond his reach. Or rather it should be just beyond his reach but his swan imitation gets him there. He seems to eat half a feeder a day. He’s clearly very hungry.
