What a shop! Yesterday we went along to Morrison’s to do our weekly food shop.
The first problem was the queue outside. In these virus-ridden days, they are only allowing a certain number of people in the shop at any one time. Most times we’ve been, it’s been quiet & we’ve been allowed straight in. This time there was a long queue.
And it rained. We got increasingly wet. It was a relief to finally get in the dry.
We did the shop. It seemed a long shop. It was certainly one of our big shops when so many basics e.g. toothpaste, antiperspirant, frozen peas, seem to run out. By the time we were heading home we both felt drained & exhausted. We contemplated going to the pub & eating out for once. But first we would do the unpack & find homes for all our purchases.
While I was putting things in the fridge, I noticed the fresh breaded pollack we’d bought was “not suitable for home freezing”. The pack contains 4 large fillets, too much for one meal for 2 people. We concluded one lot would have to be eaten today so we’d better eat at home to use some things up, especially as I suspect we’ll want to eat out after our trip to Kendal hospital later this week. The pack is at least well dated so we should be able to manage the second lot of fish over the weekend.
Rather annoyed & put out - why can’t breaded fish be frozen? It didn’t say it had been frozen before. It seemed so obviously possible to freeze the remaining fish we never even bothered to check in the supermarket. We decided we’d at east go down to the village pub & have a drink to unwind a bit, see how we felt then.
As we parked the car another couple of friends arrived so we sat together & had a chat. By the time they were ready to go, we were once more in better mood, more relaxed, more able to face making dinner ourselves.
One conclusion I did come to yesterday, is that the growth on my collar bone has grown during the week & is now making pushing myself far in my wheelchair uncomfortable. I don’t know whether I’m just still recovering from the near miss & jarring on Monday but the pain level is definitely on the up.
