A bit of sunshine

It is a most glorious day. The sun is shining. The sky is blue. The acer is on fire as the light passes through its leaves. We have had just so many wet grey days lately, it is a relief to see the difference. It seems worth celebrating. It’s difficult to imagine anything too dire could happen on a day like this.

We did our shopping yesterday. It didn’t seem overly busy when we were there. No signs of the panic buying of March, though talking to the lady on the till there clearly had been earlier in the day. Certainly there were a few empty shelves in parts. We once more have bought grapes to offset the rather gunky taste in my mouth – side effect of the chemo I’m sure. I suspect more will be needed before too long.

We dined out yesterday. We had a last fish & chips in proper light crisp beer batter before lockdown. The Fox had his last pints of real ale there to wash it down. At the next table, a family came in to dine. The daughter, now a graduate, used to be a barmaid at the pub. She has now found a full-time job so we haven’t seen her for a while. We caught up with her news & met her mother. It was good.
