Our
trip down to Christie’s hospital in Manchester is turning into quite a social
event.
My
cousin’s daughter, JC, is head of radiography at the hospital. She’s decided she
wants to join us for coffee/tea after our appointment. That way she can answer
any questions we might have face to face.
We
haven’t seen JC for quite a while so that should be a pleasant highlight to the
day, a chance of a bit of a catch-up.
Then,
come the evening, we’ve arranged to dine with the Fox’s brother & possibly his
family – another chance for a catch-up. Last year we didn’t get down to
Manchester where the Fox’s brother lives, except when we flew to Bergen &
then we took a taxi directly to & from the airport. The rest of 2019 was dominated
by ill-health – suspected stroke, pneumonia, cancer.
Somehow,
as we get older & more mortal feeling, family seems more important, the chances
of seeing them again fewer. This enforced trip down to Manchester has its good
side after all, though I’m not holding out too much hope that there will be
anything positive said from the surgeon I’m seeing, not after Friday’s meeting
with the local radiography department.
