Yesterday I was left even more bemused. There, in a car park,
was a line of cherry trees, all with pink blossoms coming out. It seemed all
the more incongruous as we battled with Storm Brendan. Nature certainly seems
all out of season.
We went over to Carnforth yesterday. As we went along the
promenade, we couldn’t help noticing how the grey of the sea just merged into
the grey of the sky. There was no sign of land on the other side of the Bay.
Even the horizon line between greys disappeared at times. On the roads & in
the fields water was starting to mass.
We weren’t long at Carnforth but by the time we were coming back
the road passed through something more like a lake. Water stretched almost from
one side of the road to the other.
And the cold! The wind accompanying the rain was bitter. Icy.
Not something you want to spend much time in.
We stopped at the golf club on the way back. I suspect it will
be closed for play today. Extra lakes & puddles abounded, & have
presumably just grown since. I really cannot imagine play will be feasible for a day or two.
