Joys of using up

The Shepherd’s Pie has been put together ready to go into the oven. It always amazes me how long it takes to make such an apparently simple dish. By the time you’ve got the filling done & the mash made & put on top half the morning has gone by.

We’re once more using up from the freezer. It can be quite a challenge to decide what to do with odd little bits. Today‘s use-up was a substantial bit of leftover roast lamb, hence the shepherd’s pie.

The next item on the list is more problematical – half a tin of condensed chicken soup. At the moment I’m contemplating chicken rissoles with chicken sauce (i.e. warmed soup) or chicken vol-au-vents. I’ve got the weekend to decide. The Fox will be making tomorrow’s dinner. He hasn’t decided what yet.
