I’m feeling rather
put out. Eventually, between us, we managed to get the lounge phone plugged
into the kitchen socket – we ended having to us a piece of string tied to a
knitting needle in order to get the wire through the holes. The phone didn’t work
but then the battery had been left to go flat overnight. Now the battery is
showing full charge but still there is no ringing tone. It would seem that when
the BT man came to fix the dangling wires from the first visit, he must have somehow dislodged something
with the result that line is not working. We just never noticed as whenever the phone rang we were nearer the lounge than the kitchen. We possibly hadn’t needed to buy a
new handset after all & have all the hassle of threading wire though holes.
I’m glad to say we do, however, have a working landline as far as the lounge,
which is also where the internet tower is plugged in. I suspect we’re going to
have to get back onto the ISP provider to sort out the phone line yet again.
Meanwhile the rain
continues to come down. I see the water supplier has already been round
presumably to check how those houses that were affected last weekend are now
doing. They haven’t called here but have gone to the houses that were affected.
Hopefully they’ve not been flooded again. This time it is a more normal level
of downpour so they should be okay.
