We went along to the hospital. The last session of this
treatment.
As usual, the nurse asked how the Fox was doing. He had to admit
he’d been itching badly since we’d seen her on Wednesday. His skin had been
feeling very hot & looked quite pink, almost red. She decided on that basis
to not give him any more treatment. Even if she gave him a lesser dose he would
probably react even worse afterwards. We both feared she was going to say come
in on Monday. But no, she said we might as well say the Fox has got as much
benefit from the treatment as he is likely to & just stop the treatment.
She is, however, going to put the Fox on the list for a follow-up appointment with
the consultant who had referred him for this UVB light treatment. It will
probably come in January next year. She hopes we’ll pop in just to say hello
when we do. She’s enjoyed our little chats while the Fox has been dancing
around in his light box.
We left the hospital wondering why we’d wasted our time going
into Lancaster that day. But at least we hadn’t been in long & she didn’t
need to see us again.
Earlier yesterday I phoned the hospital to check about when I’m
likely to hear about my knee braces. They’ve received the referral from my GP.
However, their waiting list is so long I probably won’t see any one until
Feb/March next year. So that means we won’t have to go into the hospital again
this year. We can relax a bit now, possibly enjoy Christmas & see the New
Year in.
Our celebrations began at the golf club with friends. The sheer
relief of knowing we won’t have to go into Lancaster & the hospital
until 2019 is unbelievable. We’re having the weekend off, doing nothing much,
to regain our energy, before we get on with preparing for Christmas. Then I’ll
start on the cards & deciding on our menu for the day.
Meanwhile our private celebrations (over not having to go the
hospital again for a month or so) continue with roast pork for dinner. We haven’t
had a roast for a while so it should be something special.
