The kippers are
finally around the boiled eggs. I’ve suitably breadcrumbed them. They’re now in
the fridge to fry up this evening. Hopefully by then the kipper mix will be a
little firmer than it is now.
Last night we were
looking at hotels in England, thinking of having a week’s break. We were struck
again by just how expensive it is in England. For the same money, or even less,
we could have a time in Europe where hopefully the weather might be better, the
culture & cuisine is certainly going to be quite different. Those are the
things that make a holiday for us. We’re half wondering whether we could get
away to mainland Europe before the end of March & Brexit, with all its consequences
& uncertainties. A break in England is fine for just a couple of day’s
break. The hassle of airports is too much for going away for such a short time
& the price difference is minimal.
In some ways it is a
pity. Great Britain - & here I am including Scotland & Wales – has many
places of interest to visit. In parts it has fabulous scenery. There are some
wonderful historic houses & museums, some fascinating galleries. It’s just
so expensive!
